Houses cleared away in an amazing avalanche in Norway
A few houses have been cleared into the ocean following an amazing avalanche in Alta district, northern Norway, on Wednesday.
Anders Bjordal, a Norwegian Water Resources, and Energy Directorate engineer, revealed to CNN that he saw there had been a "big clay slide" in the wake of being called to the scene at 4 p.m. (10 a.m. ET) Wednesday to offer direction to the police and salvage group.
The slide was 650 meters (2,133 feet) wide and 150 meters (492 feet) profound, decimated eight buildings, including four cabins which go about as the end of the week homes, Bjordal included.
Nobody was hurt and all individuals were emptied from the buildings, he said.
Bjordal said landslides of this scale "seldom happen in Norway, maybe every one or two years."
